**Help Tonia and Tim Roop Through an Unimaginable Year**

Dear friends, family, and kind strangers,

The year 2024 has brought an overwhelming series of challenges for Tonia and Tim Roop. It has been a time of relentless stress and heartbreak, pushing them to their physical and emotional limits.

The year began with the unimaginable—Tonia and Tim’s son went missing. This terrifying ordeal tested their strength and resilience as parents. Thankfully, he returned home safely, but their relief was short-lived.

Barely two weeks later, Tim fell gravely ill with severe pancreatitis. This came on top of his existing struggles with cardiomyopathy and acute lymphocytic leukemia. Tim's health has been precarious, with several close calls, resulting in him spending the last seven weeks in various hospitals. His journey has taken him from the ICU at Johnston Memorial Hospital to a two-week stay in a nursing home, and now to UVA Hospital, where his cardiologist is based.

Tim's recovery is an uphill battle. He has developed a 14-inch abscess, a blood clot, and a fistula. The duration and outcome of this medical journey remain uncertain.

Throughout this ordeal, Tonia has been tirelessly traveling between Abingdon, Virginia, and Charlottesville, Virginia, to be with Tim. The costs of travel, accommodation, and everyday expenses are mounting rapidly. Despite these challenges, Tonia continues to work as much as possible, but the strain is immense. She has exhausted all her personal leave days at work. Tonia is kind hearted, brave, and stubborn. She is not someone who would ever ask for help, but, as her daughter, I can see the emotional strain she is under and it breaks my heart.
