Stand with Tom and Karla in Their Battle

My amazing husband passed away yesterday morning, 6/14/24. He and I appreciated the support of this everyone that contributed to this go fund me, especially as I have been on unpaid leave for the majority of time since 5/16/24 and our insurance plan year actually started over on 6/1/24. I am going to ask Jodi Butz to keep this open for a bit longer, but please don’t feel obligated to donate if it’s burdensome to you and yours. Thank you for all the love and kindness shown to my husband, nobody was more deserving, in my opinion.

06/11/2024 Tom is now on Hospice. Read below for the latest update. Tom and Karla are so thankful for all of this help during this most difficult time. Tom was diagnosed with metastatic melanoma on 5/16/24. This is a very aggressive disease that spread quickly to his spine, brain, lymph nodes, and most recently his liver. As an example of the aggressiveness, the spread to his liver was discovered on 5/31/24, after a repeat of the exact same scan that was done 5/16/24 and 5/20/24, when it was not there. The spread to the liver happened in 11 days. After much discussion of possible treatments, side effects, and finally talking with his oncologist, Tom made the decision to stop treatment and go home on hospice. We are taking things day by day, and spending all the family and friend time we can together. We don’t know when we will lose this wonderful man, but we will. Please send positive thoughts to my husband, and hopes that his last days are as comfortable as possible.

Update: Tom has Metastatic Melanoma that has quickly spread to his liver. There is a very expensive Chemo type drug that they are looking to try. Expenses are piling up and adding to the stress. We appreciate and are so thankful for all the assistance thus far, but let's keep sharing and spreading the word during this time of need for Tom and his family. Please help in any way possible as they most certainly would for us. Hi, I'm Jodi, a friend of Karla and Tom Tysver. Tom was recently diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma. They will be flying him to Mayo very soon. Tom has been in the hospital and Karla will need to go on unpaid Family Medical Leave, both will be out of work for an unforeseen time frame. Let's band together and help them during this time of immense need. It is very important that Karla is able to stay close to Tom's side during all of this.
