Hello, my dearest family and friends. I am Desarae, Jamie's oldest daughter. Some of you may know, and some may not. I am creating this for my stepdad, Tom Lovenburg. On Thanksgiving, he gave the family some scary news that no one wants to find out.
We will start from the beginning. Tom has been having some bad stomach issues this year. In December 2024, he went to the ER for some stomach pain that was unbearable and didn't get the treatment he needed. By February, he had been rushed to the ER in the middle of the night with bad stomach pain and not being able to breathe. with this, they found out that he had an ulcer that blew a hole in his stomach. he got rushed to emergency surgery. He was down for 8-12 weeks, and the family struggled financially as his wife was in college and was focused mostly on her studies and the kids.
Well, he has been having some more stomach issues again recently. He found out the one thing no one wants to hear... Cancer. He has been focused on his health and struggling with going to work due to the pain. Tom has continued to lean on his faith, trusting that God walks with him through every high and low. Now with the big scary C... he is constantly in the hospital for scans and tests to figure out the treatment plans.
Within the next week or 2, Tom will be starting chemo. He will be out of work for a good 6 months to a year... Tom and Jamie (his wife) raise 3 kids. Their 2 grandchildren and Jamie's niece. With Tom being the one covering most of their monthly expenses, I am concerned about them not being able to cover everything they need to cover every month. Jamie works multiple jobs trying to make ends meet, but I fear it isn't enough.
Tom is someone who has always shown steady kindness, quiet strength, and genuine care for the people around him. Now, as he faces this incredibly challenging season, we are coming together to support him... not just because he needs the help but because he has spent his life pouring into others.
Every donation, no matter the size, is more than financial support. It is a reminder to Tom that he is surrounded by people who care, who are praying for him, and who refuse to let him walk this road alone.
If there is anything you can do to help, whether it is a donation or to share, anything is much appreciated. Thank you for your time in reading this.
