Monique and Isaac Sanders are living through every parent’s worst nightmare. Their son, Jakob, recently survived a self-inflicted gunshot wound and was life-flighted to Intermountain Medical Center with traumatic head injuries. By nothing short of a miracle, he is still with us — and though there are signs of hope, his recovery journey will be long, unpredictable, and full of unknowns.

They live over two hours away from the hospital, yet they’ve been at his bedside, refusing to leave him alone in this fight. Between travel, food, and time away from work, the expenses are already overwhelming. They are in the process of applying for state medical insurance, but those applications take time, and the financial strain is immediate and heavy.

I have personally witnessed how this family shows up for others in need— with kindness, service, and love. Now they are the ones who need our help. The funds raised here will go directly toward their urgent needs: travel costs, meals, lost income, and the many medical expenses that come with a long hospital stay and uncertain recovery.
