UPDATE: 2/18/25

We are home. Thank you for your help and support. We greatly appreciate everything. Lincoln has a long way to go. Mom had to be cleared to support Lincoln as he walks with the walker and gait belt so that he could come home. In the next two weeks we will be intensely working on building strength, stamina and navigating obstacles at home and in public in anticipation of going back to school March 3rd part time. Mom will also be out of work until the same time helping him adjust to his new temporary life situation with accessories. He's still battling some nightmares that will hopefully subside with being back at home. But we could surely use some more prayers that there's no long term mental side effects from this situation. As always, thank you for your prayers and support.

Lincoln has a long road toward recovery. He's relearning how to walk, adjusting to a weakened right arm and trying to stay upright. It's been tough because this vibrant boy only knows one speed and that's "go fast" and he doesn't do slow, stationary or stop! Please pray for him to be careful and open minded with his therapy. Please pray for him to give himself grace and not get down on himself when he can't do it. He gets so upset when he thinks he should be able to do something and he can't.

We have a long road ahead that's going to be tough. The donations are going to cover the some of the hospital bills and my paycheck for the month of February for being out of work as I help Lincoln adjust to this new temporary phase of his life. Please continue to share his page so we can continue to get support either financially, emotionally or spiritually ❤️

Thank you for being apart of our community!

The Istre Family

Lincoln continues to face a long road of rehabilitation and intense therapy. Although he’s making progress, we had a setback with his ammonia levels, which means his feeding schedule isn’t fully regulated yet. As a result, his NJ tube won’t be removed as hoped, and the doctors are now estimating at least two more weeks in the hospital. We’re doing our best to keep his spirits up, but it’s been tough for both him and us.

Please continue to pray for his strength, mental health, and recovery. We’re also asking for prayers for our family’s strength during this challenging time, as we’re separated and struggling with the financial burden. Your generous donations have been a huge help in allowing me to be by Lincoln’s side, as only my husband is working right now. We are incredibly grateful for your support and love. Thank you all!

Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,

The Istre family has been facing unimaginable challenges in recent months. Lincoln, their brave young warrior, was diagnosed with Arginase deficiency, a rare metabolic disorder, when he was just a week old. Over the past few weeks, his condition has worsened as he was hospitalized for Flu A, Rhinovirus, and MSSA, leading him to fall into a coma. An MRI scan revealed white matter disease, which is breaking down the myelin sheath around the neurons in his brain. The combination of these viruses and his underlying health issues has severely impacted his body, causing swelling, pressure in his brain, and a decrease in ammonia tolerance that pushed him into this critical state.

As of February 8th, Lincoln is still fighting. He has managed to get his tube removed, but he remains in critical condition with fluid in his lungs, making it difficult for him to breathe and recover. He is in immense pain, struggling with communication, and feeling numbness in his right arm. His road to recovery will be long and uncertain, but his strength and determination continue to inspire.

The Istre family needs our support now more than ever. The mounting medical bills, treatments, and everyday expenses are overwhelming. Other tragedies have occurred recently on top of Lincoln’s hospitalization. This GoFundMe has been created to help ease the financial burden on the family, allowing them to focus on caring for Lincoln. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful impact.

Your love, prayers, and support are greatly appreciated during this incredibly difficult time. Together, we can help Lincoln and his family in their fight for his recovery.

With gratitude,
