Stand with the Carters

We're the Carters. Our little family is William, Amanda, and Analise. Last year, William began experiencing health issues. In September, he required hospitalization and received a diagnosis of cirrhosis with complications (end-stage liver disease). The initial hospitalization was two and a half weeks, most of it spent in ICU. Upon release, we received a very grim prognosis. Ultimately, he will require a liver transplant. Before that can happen, he has a long road to stabilization. We need every ounce of strength to sustain him to the transplant list and process.

In addition to the medical crisis, I (Amanda) lost my job in March. I was the primary earner and insurance provider. The search for gainful employment has been steady and efforts have not subsided. However, they have been unsuccessful to date. I am continuing to pursue endeavors that will be sustainable for long-term success while maintaining financially as much as possible with short-term and part-time positions that will provide some relief and allow for continuance of care for our family.

It is with much humility that we are beginning this venture. We have exhausted all savings and are at risk of financial ruin. Our close family and friends have been tremendous support, but unfortunately, this has become a crisis far greater than we initially could have imagined. We have a long, hard road ahead of us. I have never been one to ask for or accept help gracefully. However, everything is telling me to give everything I have at this time to saving my family, including my humility.

With that, we're asking for help. The medical bills are insurmountable, we're starting to fall behind in other areas, and we still have a long way to go. We are trying to navigate the complexities of the diagnosis, managing the financial difficulties, not to mention the impact it has had on our overall mental and emotional health. Please help us keep our home, strengthen our well-being through mental health resources, and support our daughter as well as possible through all of this.
