Stand with Susan: Kidney Transplant Needed
Donation protected
My sister, Susan Miller Ames, has bravely faced polycystic kidney disease since her 20s. Twenty years ago, I was honored to donate my left kidney to her, giving her two decades of renewed health and life. However, this past August, we received devastating news—my donated kidney has rapidly declined in function, and she now faces the reality of dialysis once again.
Susan is currently going through the transplant approval process, but as you can imagine, the medical expenses are overwhelming. While insurance covers some costs, many crucial expenses—such as medications, hospital stays, and travel for treatments—are not fully covered.
Beyond her health challenges, Susan remains an incredible force for good in her community. She dedicated years of her life to teaching in Corpus Christi ISD, positively shaping the lives of countless children. Her faith shines through in everything she does, and she continues to inspire those around her—both in her church and in the many lives she touches. She leads by example, encouraging all of us to be better Christians and kinder people.
Susan has always been a fighter, but she shouldn’t have to face this journey alone. If you are able, any contribution—big or small—will help ease the financial burden and allow her to focus on healing. Even simply sharing this message can make a meaningful difference.
Thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during this difficult time.
