Stand with Suparna Nandy During Tough Times
Donation protected
My name is Towfiq and I am writing this crowdfunding post for my friend Suparna Nandy who’s going through a very hard time at this point in her life.
Suparna, a 29-year-old, young, and charming lady recently been diagnosed with triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) a very aggressive sub-type of breast cancer.
She is currently living in Charlotte, North Carolina with her husband Sudip Dam, who is a PhD student at UNC Charlotte. Suparna has no history of tobacco/alcohol use with no past record of breast cancer or another type of cancers in her family. She’s been always healthy.
In December 2023, she tragically lost her father, traveled back to Bangladesh for the funeral and right now the whole family is going through a difficult time coping with the pain. In May 2024, she noticed a big lump in her left breast and then she went to see the physician for diagnosis after having a physical assessment, mammogram, and biopsy she was diagnosed with TNBC on June 20th, 2024.
Current diagnosis: Clinical stage T2. After performing a breast MRI, she was further diagnosed with two malignant lumps in her left breast and is currently being treated for TNBC at Levine Cancer Institute in Charlotte.
The current treatment plan includes a combination of four chemotherapies and one immunotherapy for about six (06) months followed by surgery. And the next part is receiving six months of immunotherapy post-surgery combined with radiation therapy. Right now, the treatment cost is about $500 per month which is out-of-pocket.
Most importantly, Suparna tested positive for BRCA 1 mutation which makes the future treatment challenging with future possibility of developing ovarian cancer and cancer of the fallopian tubes. BRCA 1 mutation also warrants full mastectomy (removal of the whole breast) with reconstruction surgery and removal of ovaries which are very expensive.
She is uninsured and the treatment expense is exorbitant which is not possible for Suparna and Sudip to pay out-of-pocket. Luckily, a charity organization in North Carolina is helping to cover partial expenses for her doctor’s appointments, lab tests, and chemotherapy. But still, the family needs financial support for out-of-pocket costs to consult specialists, medications, lab tests/scans (MRI/CT/biopsy), and long-term hospital visits associated with chemotherapy, surgery as well as radiation.
Sudip and Suparna deserve the opportunity to battle against cancer, but they can't do it alone. By extending even a small amount of support, we can help their family make a much-needed comeback.
This financial contribution will go into her medications, expenses related to hospital visits, out-of-pocket pay for costs not covered by the charity program, basic and essential family needs, and future surgeries.
