My name is Milan Eterovic, and I am a close friend of Steven Perez and Vitali Maya, and right now, they need our help more than ever. Steven and I met this past year through a mutual friend, and we quickly became close. He moved to my school from Falls Church at the beginning of the school year, and his positive spirit made an immediate impact on everyone around him. Vitali, on the other hand, has been a part of my life since 3rd grade. We've always been friends, but we became especially close in 8th grade, and he's been like a brother to me ever since.
Recently, Steven and Vitali were involved in a devastating car accident. Their vehicle flipped three times while traveling at over 100 miles per hour, and both of them were thrown from the car. The injuries they sustained are severe—Vitali will need plastic surgery to reconstruct the lower half of his leg, and Steven is currently in a medically induced coma, facing facial reconstruction surgery and other life-saving treatments as he remains in critical condition. The road to recovery for both of them will be long, difficult, and expensive.
