Stand with Steve: Fund for Medical & Moving Costs

I’m reaching out to friends, family and colleagues to help out a dear longtime friend of mine and chef, Steve Shibutani.

If you know me, you’ll know that some of the best times of my life were sitting at the sushi counter at Sushi ii with Chef Steve. Steve’s skill-set for crafting sushi while catering to loyal customers with his one-of-a-kind sense of humor was second to none. His customer’s happiness came first and he always put his heart out on the plate when he served you. His infectious laugh would fill the restaurant.

Over the course of 14+ years, I’ve had the honor of becoming friends with Steve outside the restaurant as well. He is truly one of the most genuine, generous and loyal friends I’ve ever had.

Recently, Steve has been sadly diagnosed with a terminal illness and will be moving permanently to Japan with his wife and two children.

This fund will help with medical and moving expenses and will greatly help Steve and his family through these hard times.
