Stand with Stephen Diggs: Overcoming Lung Cancer

Donation protected
Hello to everyone and thank you for taking the time to click the link and read this story.

I want to tell you a little bit about a guy named Stephen Diggs. Stephen and his wife Lauren live in Baltimore, Maryland. They have been blessed with 5 amazing children: Justin (future daughter-in-law, Katie), Madisyn (son-in-law, Nick) Micah, Adah and Aislyn, and a beautiful granddaughter, Hadley Grace. Stephen spent 23 years in the U.S. Coast Guard where he retired earlier this year with the rank of Chief. Throughout his years in the Coast Guard, he has been stationed in the Baltimore area, the Southern Maryland area, Duluth MN, and was a Company Chief at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. He also served overseas in Bahrain from November 2016 to December 2017. Currently, he is employed with the Baltimore City Police Department because apparently the Coast Guard wasn’t challenging enough and thought it would be a good idea to dig a little deeper into danger.

Each place that Stephen and his family have called home they have left better than when they got there. No one that I know works, plays, or SERVES others harder than Stephen does.

A few months ago, he developed a cough that was persistent and just wasn't going away. He also began to experience some weight loss, but just chalked that up to a new job and late-night shifts. He went in several times for routine checks, but it wasn't until the beginning of August that they decided to do an X-ray that revealed a mass in his lung and lymph nodes. Biopsies, scans and tests revealed that Stephen has stage 3 lung cancer. He will begin chemotherapy next week.

That's the bad news and yes that is bad BUT here's the encouraging part: when God made Stephen, it's what he had in mind for the perfect male body. The dude is a physical specimen and is 200 pounds of twisted steel and sex appeal. To say I'm jealous would be a massive underselling of the word. The man knows how to eat right, stay fit and this allows him to chase down smooth criminals and save some lives too. With that being said, his heart is in great shape both spiritually and physically. This makes him a candidate for Immunotherapy to help along with the chemo.

Cancer sucks and chemo isn't easy regardless. We are still believing in a miracle for him, but Stephen will endure a tough physical and mental battle. His family will take on financial responsibilities in the way of hospital payments and Stephen will more than likely need time away from work due to the treatments.

This is where I'm hoping we can come in and bridge that gap financially for them. Stephen and his family have made an impact in so many people's lives wherever they have been. You may be family, a friend or just an acquaintance, but The Diggs family has made an impact in your life. You may not even know him and found yourself wondering why you read this far into this story. That's not an accident. We believe God still has big plans for Stephen. We are asking that you consider coming alongside a man that has given consistently to his family, friends and country.

Thank you to all in advance.
