Where do I begin... I am not one to ask for help. But this girl right here needs all the help she can get! I met Steph when I started working at Publix Pharmacy. She was one of the first co-workers to approach me and offer to help. Her patience and availability to me was immense. Her kindness and personality is contagious. Steph gives without looking for anything in return. Her heart is for others and not herself. She gives all and asks for nothing. Steph is a single mom of 3 since her partner passed unexpectedly last September and still looks to help others instead of looking for any returns.
Sadly, Steph was diagnosed with end-stage renal disease that hit her from absolutely nowhere. This disease attacks the kidneys and is completely life threatening. This has also caused congestive heart failure, recurring pneumonia, and is effecting all of her organs.
She cannot work as she requires dialysis 3 days per week, 4 hours per day, and has recurrent visits to the ICU as well. As she waits for a kidney transplant, which will be extremely costly on its own, she continues to struggle financially just to pay her bills and to provide for her kids and herself. She has been told that she qualifies for the transplant but must show an income. However, she can't show an income when she can't work!
She desperately needs help! For every step forward, she faces 5 steps back. She is seriously hurting for the funds just to get by. Whatever we, as a community, can give is a blessing. Any amount, big or small, will be everything to her as she fights this unforgiving disease.
