Sri Lanka has just experienced its worst natural disaster since the 2004 tsunami. Cyclone Ditwah has torn through the island, leaving behind catastrophic devastation. Massive flooding and landslides have displaced more than 1.7 million people, destroyed thousands of homes, and left entire communities without power, clean water, or access to basic necessities.
The human toll continues to grow. The death count has risen to 619, and more than 200 people remain missing, many feared buried as landslides have wiped entire villages off the map. Roads are blocked, critical infrastructure has collapsed, and many rural regions remain completely cutoff from aid. The scale of suffering is heartbreaking.
Founded in the 1980s and incorporated in California in 2017, the Nalanda College Old Boys Association of America (NCOBAA) is a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our beloved alma mater, Nalanda College in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and uplifting the broader Sri Lankan community both at home and abroad.
In this moment of national emergency, the Nalanda College Old Boys Association of America (NCOBAA) calls upon all Americans—especially the Sri Lankan diaspora and friends of Sri Lanka—to stand with the people of Sri Lanka.
We are urgently raising funds to support flood-relief operations coordinated by the Sri Lankan government’s Emergency Management Department. Your contribution will directly help provide:
• Emergency food supplies
• Clean drinking water
• Medical assistance
• Temporary shelter
• Essential relief items for families who have lost everything
No amount is too small—every donation can save lives and bring hope to those who have been devastated overnight.
All contributions (less GoFundMe fees) will go to the official Sri Lankan Government Disaster Relief Account, maintained by the Central Bank of Sri Lanka (CBSL) under the authority of the Deputy Secretary to the Treasury (DST).
ALL DONATIONS ARE TAX DEDUCTIBLE
NCOBAA is a registered 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization
