Stand With Sophia: A 2-Year-Old Battling Leukemia

Donation protected
Sweet Sophia who is only 2, was diagnosed with B-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) and has begun chemotherapy at St. Mary’s Children’s Hospital.

“Thursday morning started like normal. We got up, got dressed, and went to the girls’ WIC appointment. Sophia had a finger-prick hemoglobin test. The nurse checked it… then checked it again. And again. Her hemoglobin was around 5.6 (they consider 11 low).

We went straight to the ER, and after more testing, the doctor came in and told us her bone marrow was failing and that we needed to go to the Children’s Hospital right away.

A spinal tap showed the leukemia has not spread to her brain or spine, which we are incredibly thankful for.

She had her first round of chemo already. This girl has been an absolute champ. Even through everything, she’s still her happy, silly self. We have faith that God will see us through this.”

Sophia’s treatment journey is expected to last about 2½ years and will involve frequent hospital visits, including regular trips nearly an hour and a half each way for her care. Her parents, Brittni and Jim, are navigating this life-changing diagnosis while caring for their three other children, ages 13, 6, and 1.

Funds raised will help support the family with:

• Travel to Duluth for treatments
• Gas, lodging, and meals during hospital visits
• Lost wages from time away from work
• Medical and unexpected expenses
• Childcare and daily family needs

Reliable transportation is also critical for Sophia’s care. The family is currently borrowing a vehicle while their own is unreliable, and funds will help ensure they have safe transportation for Sophia’s treatments.

Sophia has a long fight ahead, but she will not face it alone.

If you are able, please consider donating, sharing this page, or keeping Sophia and her family in your prayers.
