Help Jonathan Fight For His Second Chance at Life
Hello, my name is Jonathan Massoud, but many of my friends know me as "Soodi." I am reaching out to you today from a place of vulnerability and hope, asking for your help in what has become the most challenging fight of my life.
For more than a decade, I have lived with the incredible gift of a second chance. In 2012, after nine long years on the transplant list, I received a new kidney. That transplant gave me life, and I have fought every day to honor that gift by staying healthy and strong. Now, that precious kidney is nearing the end of its life, and I am facing the urgent need for another.
Navigating this journey was already going to be difficult, but my situation has recently become a crisis. On June 16, 2025, I was unjustly terminated from my job as Director of Maintenance at Sodalis Senior Living. This action came on the heels of my repeated efforts to report serious safety and ethical concerns at my workplace and my requests for a reasonable accommodation for my upcoming dialysis needs.
Losing my job at this critical moment has left me with no income and, most devastatingly, no health insurance.
Because I no longer have health coverage, I have been officially placed on "inactive" status on the kidney transplant list. This is a heartbreaking procedural step that means while I continue to accrue waiting time, I cannot receive a life-saving kidney until I can secure new insurance.
This is why I am turning to you, my community, for help. I have set a fundraising goal of $25,000 to build a bridge through this incredibly difficult time and get back on the active transplant list. Your generous support will go directly toward:
Securing Health Insurance: The immediate priority is paying for COBRA or a new Healthcare Marketplace plan. This is the only way to get back on the "active" transplant list and be eligible for a kidney.
Anti-Rejection Medications: These expensive medications are vital to keep my current, failing kidney functioning for as long as possible, buying me precious time.
Past & Future Medical Expenses: Covering the mountain of existing medical bills and preparing for the co-pays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket costs of dialysis and future transplant-related care.
I am a fighter. My resolve has not been shaken, and I will not surrender. But I cannot win this fight alone.
