Stand with Shayne: Recovery and Hope

Dear Friends and Family,

We’re reaching out on behalf of Shayne and his fiancée Jessica. Shayne suffered a severe stroke in mid-September and was admitted to North Memorial Trauma, where he received great care from an incredible team of doctors, nurses, physical, occupational, and speech therapists. We were so happy when there was an opening at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute, where he has been making great strides in his recovery. This sudden life-altering event has left our dear brother, son, father, uncle, and friend, and his amazing fiancée Jessica, to face a long healing journey that also includes emotional and financial challenges.

Shayne’s recovery will take time, and unfortunately, the medical bills are mounting. The ongoing therapy is up in the air, but we do know that the first six months of therapies are the most important and critical to maximizing recovery and regaining independence. Sadly, not all of the therapies are covered by insurance. Jessica has been incredible in her dedication and support, but there are challenges.
