Help Sevim Tenk Reach Life-Saving Personalized Cancer Treatment

Sevim Tenk came to the United States from Türkiye to support her daughter, who had just started college and was pursuing her dream of becoming a fighter jet pilot. Like any devoted mother, she traveled across the ocean to stand by her child — never expecting that she would soon face a battle of her own.

During her visit to Ohio, Sevim was diagnosed with extensive-stage Small Cell Lung Cancer (SCLC), which had already spread to her liver and bones. Though she initially responded well to chemotherapy, her treatment was limited to standard protocols. No personalized care, no advanced genetic testing, and no exploration of clinical trials were ever provided — even at one of the top-ranked hospitals in the world.

Today, Sevim’s condition is worsening. With no active treatment in place, her liver and kidney function are deteriorating, and her lung tumor is causing severe coughing and shortness of breath. Her body is fading — and time is no longer on her side.

But there is still hope.

In Türkiye, Sevim has connected with Prof. Dr. Mutlu Demiray, a compassionate oncologist known for his work in advanced, personalized treatments. His approach relies on in-depth DNA and RNA analysis to create targeted therapies tailored to each patient. For Sevim, this could be the turning point — her best chance at survival.

However, reaching that care presents its own challenge. Due to her condition, Sevim must travel in a reclined or lying position, making a business class ticket medically necessary. The cost of just the one-way flight from Detroit to Istanbul is nearly $7,000. On top of this are the expenses of inpatient care, high-level testing, and long-term treatment once she arrives.

Her daughter is doing everything she can — but she can’t carry this alone.

Sevim Tenk İçin Umut Ol – Kişiye Özel Tedaviye Ulaşması İçin Destek Ol

Sevim Tenk, Türkiye’den Amerika’ya sadece bir anne olarak geldi. Kızı üniversiteye başlamış, savaş pilotu olma hayalinin peşinden gidiyordu. Sevim Hanım da bu zorlu ama gurur verici yolculuğunda kızının yanında olmak istemişti. Ne yazık ki hayat, ona bambaşka bir sınav sundu.

Ohio’daki bu ziyaret sırasında Sevim Hanım’a ileri evre Küçük Hücreli Akciğer Kanseri (SCLC) teşhisi kondu. Hastalık karaciğerine ve kemiklerine yayılmıştı. İlk kemoterapiye olumlu yanıt verse de, tedavisi yalnızca standart protokollerle sınırlı kaldı. Kişiye özel genetik analizler yapılmadı, klinik araştırma ya da alternatif tedavi seçenekleri hiç değerlendirilmedi — üstelik bu süreç, dünyanın en saygın hastanelerinden birinde yaşandı.

Bugün Sevim Hanım aktif tedavi görmüyor ve durumu hızla kötüleşiyor. Karaciğer ve böbrek fonksiyonları bozuluyor, akciğerindeki tümör ise öksürük ve nefes darlığı yaratıyor. Vakit daralıyor.

Ama hâlâ umut var.

Türkiye’de, alanında uzman ve insani yaklaşımıyla tanınan Prof. Dr. Mutlu Demiray ile iletişime geçti. Mutlu Hoca’nın tedavi yöntemi, hastaya özel olarak DNA ve RNA analizlerine dayanıyor. Sevim Hanım için bu yöntem, belki de hayatta kalması için en güçlü şansı temsil ediyor.

Ancak bu tedaviye ulaşmak da kolay değil. Mevcut sağlık durumu nedeniyle Türkiye’ye yatış pozisyonunda seyahat etmesi gerekiyor. Bu da sadece business class uçuşla mümkün ve Detroit–İstanbul tek yön bileti yaklaşık 7.000 dolar. Ailenin bu maliyeti karşılaması mümkün değil. Üstelik bu sadece başlangıç: Türkiye’de yatış, ileri düzey analizler ve uzun vadeli tedavi masrafları da onları bekliyor.

Kızı elinden geleni yapıyor — ama bu yol tek başına yürünecek bir yol değil.

Bugün sizlere bir çağrıda bulunuyoruz. Sevim Hanım buraya kendi hayatı için değil, kızının hayalleri için geldi. Şimdi ise onun hayatta kalma mücadelesine destek olma sırası bizde.
