“Hello,
My name is Sebastian Melendez.
I am 27 years old.
I came here to the United States due to various circumstances. From the very first day I entered, I was detained. The first period was from 07/21/2019 until 03/04/2021. I was released under the condition that I report to an immigration office because I have an open case.
I was complying with those requirements and doing everything the right way. I have no type of criminal record. On 10/08/2025, I attended my appointment as usual, just as I had been doing, and that day I was arrested.
Thank God , thanks to attorney Emma, and thanks to people like you who fight, support, and raise your voices for this cause that I have had to live through, I was able to be released on 02/02/2026.“
During his recent, unjust three-month detainment, Sebastian was forced to endure grueling hours of labor for little to no pay. This experience left a lasting impact on his life. Rather than letting those painful months define him, Sebastian has chosen to turn his hardship into purpose. He is now determined to advocate for and support others who remain detained, giving a voice to those who often go unheard.
Update (05/06/26): Contributions will now help cover his appeal process. He has 30 days to file in appeal in a Georgia court. The estimate needed will be between $10,000 and $15,000. We are open to ideas from the community to continue to offer support and protection to Sebastian. We also ask for prayers from the community.
