Hi, my name is Sean Russell Morrison. I’m 36 years old.
I am a survivor of the WWASP system and institutionalized child abuse, and I live with Complex PTSD as a result. I was born and raised in Haverhill, Massachusetts, and I am currently residing at Dorothy Day Homeless Shelter in Berkeley, California.
For over a decade, I have been a whistleblower and advocate exposing abuse within the Troubled Teen Industry, including my own experience at Ivy Ridge Academy in Ogdensburg, New York, where I was confined from July 8, 2004 to July 2, 2006.
Since roughly 2011–2013, I have remained publicly engaged in survivor advocacy, documentation, and support for others who endured similar harm. This work has permanently shaped my life and continues to come at personal cost.
I am a survivor, an artist, organizer, and lifelong advocate for survivors and for the protection of youth. Speaking out has meant instability, retaliation, and long stretches without safety or security, but it has also meant community, truth, and accountability.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who has believed in me and stood beside me over the years.
Why I’m asking for help now I am currently facing immediate financial strain related to housing instability and basic survival needs.
I estimate needing approximately $4,000 to address accumulated debts and protect what little I have left, including:
• Storage fees for my remaining belongings • Maintaining a working cell phone
• Stabilizing essentials after being forced out of Hollywood in March and April of this year
In addition:
• I have not received my security deposit from prior housing
• My car was vandalized while parked in what was supposed to be secured parking in Los Angeles
• I owe approximately $1,000 total in gas and electric utility bills
These funds would allow me to regain stability, preserve my belongings, and create breathing room while I continue pursuing safety, healing, and advocacy.
If you are able to contribute, share, or simply hold space for this request, please know how much it means. Your support is not just financial, it is affirming, grounding, and lifesaving.
Thank you for believing in me. Thank you for dreaming with me. Thank you for helping keep me safe.
With love and gratitude,
Sean Russell Morrison
