Stand with Scott: Battling Illness and Hardship

To my church family and the body of Christ, my friends and my family, this is Scott Minkler, a.k.a. “Uncle Savage.” I’ve run into somewhat of a 911 over the last month having a diagnosis of leishmaniasis, a parasitic infection, and fighting a battle that I thought I had beaten six years ago. The disease returned with somewhat of a vengeance after laying dormant, but unfortunately, I’m facing the fight of my life again. Over this last month, I’ve been hospitalized twice and just came out of the hospital after being in for eight days, following surgery, nearly losing my life, and now I have limited mobility. This is taking me financially to a rock bottom position. The surf school I started took off, was lined up and finally doing really well, has now been forced to be put on hold. This is making a major dent in my ability to support myself and to continue the school, as this is my only form of income. I'm unable to work and looks like it's going to be a while before I can return to doing what I love..... teaching people to surf out in the water. It feels like a mountain that I’m facing and I need help to try and get through this difficult emergency. The goal of $18,889 will support me and the business over 3 months (approximately $6,296.00 a month) until I can fight this rare tropical disease and sustain myself.
