Support Samantha Morris-Avery and Her Family
Samantha Morris-Avery, a 2012 WestConn Softball alumna, is facing the fight of her life alongside her wife, Ashlie, and their young son, Easton.
Sam earned her master’s degree from Springfield College and now works with the UConn Foundation and is Director of Development for the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. She has dedicated her life to helping and connecting with others, and now she and her family need that same support in return.
This spring, while Sam and Ashlie were hoping to grow their family and give Easton a sibling, they received the devastating news that Sam has terminal reproductive cancer. Since then, Sam has endured countless trips for treatment, multiple rounds of chemotherapy, and a stay at Sloan Kettering. After holding onto hope for surgery and exploring every available treatment option, Sam is unfortunately no longer a candidate for surgery and has entered palliative care.
Through every setback, Sam has continued to show incredible strength, courage, and determination. She is making every moment count and cherishing the time she has with the people she loves most.
Sam is the kind of person who lights up every room she enters. She is compassionate, generous, and genuinely selfless, the person who would give the shirt off her back to help someone else. She is a peacemaker, a source of comfort to those around her, and a truly beautiful soul. Watching someone so deeply loved face something this heartbreaking has been incredibly difficult for everyone who knows her.
Sam and Ashlie recently purchased their forever home, where they had planned to build their life and raise their family. With Sam’s diagnosis and the financial uncertainty that lies ahead this has added another tremendous burden during an already unimaginable time.
Funds raised will help Ashlie and Easton remain in their home, help protect Easton’s college fund and future, and assist with the mounting medical and everyday expenses that come with Sam’s illness and care.
If you are able, please consider making a donation or sharing this fundraiser with others. Every contribution, no matter the amount, can help ease some of the financial burden and allow Sam, Ashlie and Easton to focus on what matters most: spending precious time together as a family.
And if you are unable to donate, a prayer, a share, a kind message, or simply keeping Sam and her family in your thoughts means more than you know.
Thank you for surrounding Sam, Ashlie, and Easton with love, compassion, and support during this incredibly difficult journey. ❤️
