Stand with Ruben and Claudet in Their Fight

On behalf of the Rodriguez family, my name is Mallory Valle and I am asking for your support for this veteran family. As a Marine Corps veteran, I feel it is vital to support our fellow veterans and their families in their time of need. It is with great sadness that I share, both SSgt. Ruben Rodriguez and his wife Claudet are battling cancer. In early 2023, Ruben was diagnosed with stage 3 kidney cancer. He’s had multiple surgeries- including both kidney removal. He is currently on dialysis (3x a week). Unfortunately, his cancer progressed to stage 4. Ruben is currently undergoing chemotherapy, which has done irreparable damage to his internal organs. During this difficult process, he can no longer work. His loving, supportive wife Claudet has been his caregiver but now is suffering from stage 4 breast cancer. Claudet was previously diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in 2002. With the grace of God and with the love and support of her family and friends, she beat cancer. Earlier this year, Claudet received the devastating news, her breast cancer had returned. She has been diagnosed with stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. She is currently undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and occupational therapy. Claudet is currently a teacher with Aldine ISD, but can no longer work due to her illness. Her students and co-workers miss her very much.

Please consider this a call to arms. Both Ruben and Claudet are facing great difficulty. Physically, emotionally, spiritually, and financially. They have been married 35 years and for 35 years they have been each others support system. Ruben has served his country and during that time, Claudet has been at his side. To battle cancer is hardship enough, for both a husband and wife to battle simultaneously is almost too big a burden to bear.
