Stand with Rogelio: Help Overcome Injustice

Hi everyone,

I’m reaching out on behalf of one of my longtime closest friends, Rogelio, who is facing an incredibly unjust situation that no one should ever have to experience.

After an unavoidable accident caused by sudden breaking from the person in front of him, Rogelio was wrongfully profiled and taken to jail — not for any harm caused, not in relation to the accident itself, but simply because he had a legal vape pen in his possession which was dead at the time. Instead of being treated with fairness and respect, he was met with suspicion and force. What should have been a simple exchange of insurance information turned into a traumatic and humiliating experience — all based on bias, not justice.

Rogelio is one of the kindest, most hardworking people I know. He is joyful and sweet and anyone who has met him has witnessed his light. He shows up for others, uplifts his team, and has never asked for help — so we’re doing it for him. He's now facing legal fees, missed work, and the emotional toll of being criminalized for something that should never have been an issue in the first place.

We are raising funds to support:

Legal representation and fees including finding someone who can ensure that the burden of proof falls on those who accused him

Lost wages from missed work

Emotional recovery and basic needs during this time

Added transportation costs due to his vehicle being totaled
