Help Support Robert Garcia’s Recovery, Therapy, and Accessibility Needs
As many of you know, Robert “Rob” Garcia, has faced an unimaginable turn of life events over the past few months. Recently, a wonderful family friend has reached out and would like to organize a fundraising event. This GoFundMe will be utilized as an option for your generosity.
While you may know Rob as a friend, coworker, fellow musician or family member, he is also, and maybe most importantly, an encourager. Whether it be through music, sharing his wisdom, or quiet acts of kindness, Robert has made a lasting impact on those around him.
In November of last year, after becoming progressively weak in his legs, Robert went to the ER. Here, he was diagnosed with severe spinal stenosis in his cervical, thoracic, and lumbar spine. Within a few days, he was urged to have surgery to avoid any progression of a spinal cord injury or paralysis. After the first surgery, which targeted the thoracic spine, he regained little movement to his lower extremities before it was discovered that he had sustained a fracture in his spine and would need a second surgery. This surgery, focusing on the fracture and lumbar spine, had to end early due to his blood pressure dropping to unsafe levels, and he would need a third surgery a week later. After being medically stabilized, Rob was moved to PAM for rehabilitation. Three weeks later, he was discharged home per insurance protocols, and has since exhausted his home health physical therapy.
Since November, Robert has faced a long and challenging road. He is currently unable to walk, unable to return to work, and is being cared for full-time by his family.
Robert has not given up hope of one day walking again and we continue to hope and pray along with him. Although he made progress with rehab, he is now more physically prepared for extensive therapy and rehabilitation, which will help him reach the ultimate goal of walking and returning to work again.
This fundraiser will help cover:
• Ongoing medical costs, past medical bills and medical supplies
• Extensive physical therapy needed to help Robert regain strength to walk again
• Home modifications to accommodate his wheelchair
• Living expenses as Robert and his family adjust to this new reality
• In-home support to assist his family with his needs
We have peace & hope knowing that God is always in control of every situation and we trust Him all the way through. Our family is beyond grateful for prayers of continued strength, both physically and spiritually. Every monetary donation will be used to support his recovery as he gets “one day closer”.
Stay in His blessings- Family
