Stand with Rikki~ second parent to undergo organ transplant

I’m Erin Laine & I’m starting this for Rikki Laine, McKenna & Garrett’s mother. Our whole family was still reeling from Scott’s liver transplant, while unbeknownst to us Rikki was being told she had end stage lung disease from a connective tissue disorder. You can imagine the shock & sheer terror that ensued when everyone heard the word “transplant” again. This time it was for a pair of lungs & since the Laine’s don’t screw around~ she got transplanted just a couple weeks after being put on the list. Rikki was given the precious gift of organ donation, which once again has kept our family intact. McKenna, her daughter, will be her primary caretaker during this time. Once she is discharged from the transplant floor in about 3 weeks, they will live in an apartment near the Stanford campus in California for 3 months post transplant. Scott & I were so fortunate to live 10 minutes from UAMS, & I don’t know what we would have done if we were forced to relocate. Garrett lives in Kentucky & is fortunate to have an understanding employer who let him come out before & after surgery to see his mama, but her journey is just beginning. She has a long road ahead of her & will need the support of her family & friends. These kiddos have been through the wringer enduring this with one parent, much less both. I’m hoping these donations will take some of the weight off Rikki’s shoulders, so the kids can take care of her & not worry. Even if you can’t donate, I know Rikki & the kids would love any uplifting words/messages you would like to leave ❤️❤️
