We have some hopeful news to share! After months apart, there is a strong chance for this Bancroft/Deal family in our community to be reunited. They need our continued support on this next step.

They were able to make the case that the father is a dedicated, law-abiding, and critical member of this family unit, leading a judge to grant his habeas petition. This gives him the chance to come home to his wife and children while he awaits his next hearing. (When a judge grants the habeas petition, it means the court agrees that the detention may not be justified and that the person should be released, even while their case continues).

Now, the family faces the next hurdle — raising funds for the legal fees and bond required to bring him home. These costs are significant, but not insurmountable with our community’s support. We can help make it possible for this family to be together again.

This family is part of our neighborhood — one of their children attends Bancroft Elementary and another Deal Middle School. They also have an infant and take care of a teenager who needed custodial and parental support. They have shown remarkable strength and grace through unimaginable hardship. The mom has been holding everything together on her own, caring for their children, including one with serious health needs. If her husband is able to return home, he can help care for their baby and older children, allowing her to expand her work hours and rebuild stability for their family.

We’ve come together once before to help this family through the initial crisis. We have the opportunity to help them reach a turning point. Every contribution, no matter the size, matters. Please give what you can and share this with others who might want to support keeping this family whole.

Ahora, la familia enfrenta el siguiente obstáculo: recaudar fondos para los honorarios legales y la fianza necesarios para traerlo a casa. Estos costos son significativos, pero no insuperables con el apoyo de nuestra comunidad. Podemos ayudar a que esta familia vuelva a estar junta.

Esta familia forma parte de nuestro vecindario: uno de sus hijos asiste a la escuela primaria Bancroft y otro a la escuela secundaria Deal. También tienen un bebé y cuidan a un adolescente que necesitaba apoyo parental y de custodia. Han demostrado una fortaleza y una gracia extraordinarias a pesar de dificultades inimaginables. La madre ha estado a cargo de todo, cuidando a sus hijos, incluyendo uno con graves necesidades de salud. Si su esposo puede regresar a casa, podrá ayudarla a cuidar a su bebé y a sus hijos mayores, lo que le permitirá ampliar su horario laboral y reconstruir la estabilidad familiar.

Ya nos hemos unido en una ocasión para ayudar a esta familia a superar la crisis inicial. Tenemos la oportunidad de ayudarlos a llegar a un punto de inflexión.
