Rebecca unexpectedly received a breast cancer diagnosis at the end of May 2024, and it could not have come at a more challenging time in her life. She was a single mom managing full time work and raising two young children while also dealing with an unrelated health issue. Rebecca received 16 weeks of chemotherapy from June to October, followed by a unilateral mastectomy in early November. However, her recent test results revealed the need for additional surgery (scheduled for early December), to be followed by radiation and years of aggressive endocrine therapy.

Due to the extent and duration of her treatment, Rebecca is no longer working and has applied for long term disability, which will cover a portion of her salary during treatment. However, it is not enough for Rebecca to support her family during this process or to cover the costs of travel, parking and medical co-pays associated with treatment. Rebecca is also paying directly for holistic therapies to support recovery because she is so motivated to make it through this experience and survive her diagnosis for the sake of her kids.

It is my intention to help Rebecca with accessing financial support through family, friends, and networking to assist with keeping her family afloat as she makes it through these next several months of treatment. My name is Elizabeth and I am a very close friend of Rebecca's, as our children have grown up together. Our friendship began in a new moms’ group in Somerville MA over a decade ago. Our 6 month old babies brought us together and I cannot imagine the last 10 years of my life as a mom without her. Rebecca is a soul friend and I feel so blessed to know this kind of friendship in my lifetime. I am hoping to be as supportive of Rebecca during this period of time as she has been to me in all of our years of friendship.
