I’ll start by introducing myself I’m Lester West a close friend and union brother of Phillip "Phil” Cooke. Phil a 53 year old man a father of 3 children and a proud Union Journeyman Pipefitter out of local 495 Cambridge, Ohio. Phil was recently employed working for local 189 in Columbus Ohio where he recently has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Stomach and Esophagus Cancer. Phil has started undergoing 3 months of Chemotherapy folllowed by a surgery scheduled for June in hopes or removing the Cancer by taking out part of his stomach and part of his esophagus. Then will have to be on a feeding tube for 1-2 months then another 3 months of Chemotherapy. Unfortunately due to Phil’s diagnosis he’s unable to work he’s applied for disability but that’s not gonna be of any help until October at the earliest. Phil has to travel to the Cleveland Clinic 3-4 days a week and the cost of the trips are adding up quick. I’m looking to get Phil as much help as possibly to help him financially and as many prayers as he can possibly get to ensure Phil battles this and makes a full recovery. Phil has been an amazing brother and even better friend of mine that I’ve spent many of trips working out on the road with and many local jobs, spent countless hours out on the river boating what Phil loves to do in his free time. Phil’s countless acts of kindness to help others goes above and beyond. Let’s all come together and help our union brother out in this difficult time to make his treatment and recovery as easy as possible.
