Saturday, August 23rd was like any other day for Peyton. She was hanging out with friends, but on this particular day, she had also volunteered to assist myself and my son with loading a U-Haul due to our impending move. Peyton arrived around 10:15, and we headed to pick up the U-Haul. After dropping me off, Peyton, my son Levi, and another friend we call Mack were heading to McDonald's and would then head back to my home.

I arrived home and started to gather things that needed to be carried out. After some time, I decided to message my son, asking if they were still at McDonald's since I was kind of hungry anyway. As I sent that message, another two of their friends arrived, ready to help. As I told the two other kids that were at my home about how I was waiting for the other three to get back, I got a call I was not prepared to get.

"Mom, we crashed. The car flipped." Instant panic!! Being in the medical field, of course, I started with the questions: Are you all okay? Anyone hurt/bleeding? Are you all out of the car? Did you call 911? And then instructed them to move away from the road and away from the car. THANK GOD FOR SNAPCHAT LOCATION because I knew exactly where they were.

We hopped into the other friend's car, and as we arrived on the scene, it was chaotic. Police vehicles, fire trucks, and an ambulance. As a mom of one of the passengers, I first checked my son, who had lacerations to his face but no recollection of the accident. Next was the front passenger, who was up walking around but talking frantically and also worried about the driver. I came upon Peyton laying partially in the ditch and made sure she was aware I was there.

All three were sent to the local hospital, with Peyton being the only one that had to go by ambulance. While at the local hospital and after some scans and X-rays, it was determined that she had a spinal fracture to the strongest vertebrae in her spine. She has to now be transferred to Children's Hospital.

Sunday, Peyton had the spinal surgery to repair the damage that happened due to the crash.

I am asking for funds to assist the family with loss of wages, gas, food, and any other expenses since Peyton is expected to be in the hospital for 6 weeks, plus I am guessing continued care and physical therapy once back home.

Peyton is an amazing young lady who was supposed to start her senior year of high school on September 2nd and works at a local nursing home in town. She is kind, loving, soft-spoken, and determined to heal and get better.
