Hi, everyone! I'm Pete. I recently was fired from my job as a visual merchandising manager at a major apparel retailer because the new GM is an evangelical Christian who did not want an openly gay man as her second in command. Her official reasoning was because I made one mistake on the job, despite having no prior infractions on my record. It was told to me by one of the associates after my termination that she overheard the GM through the office door saying that she finally got rid of that (homophobic slur) to someone she was on the phone with. I am pursuing legal action, but am struggling to find gainful employment due to being blacklisted by her in the local retail community. I have been delivering for DoorDash and Uber Eats, but it is barely getting me by day to day. There are days where I have to choose between gas in the car or food to eat.
I am now facing eviction, as well as the threat of having my water and natural gas cut off. I love my apartment, and it is the first one I had in my entire adult life that is all mine, without a roommate or partner. Please help me be able to stay here until I can find another job and/or pursue legal action against my former boss and the company I worked for. A small amount can go a long way, and I would be forever grateful. Any funds donated will go specifically towards rent and utilities.
Thank you for taking the time to read my story, and for even considering helping me be able to keep my home.
Be well, and take care of yourself and each other.

Update: 4/23/25
I am officially being evicted from my home. I have until 5/14/23 to find a new place to live, or I am on the streets.
