On Thursday night, many parents gathered at the Leman Academy Preschool in Marana for a parent information night. There were several topics addressed, but the one closest to my heart is staffing. Next week, our preschool will be down to three teachers. Lanna, Anna, and Erica. Those who know them know that they are three amazing ladies who show up every day ready to support, encourage, and educate our children. Yes, it's their job, and it's a job that they all profess to love. Sadly, it's also a job that does not pay enough for them to support their small families. One of our teachers bravely admitted on Thursday night that she could make more money at Panda Express and that she relies on government assistance to help support herself and her young daughter. Like many teachers throughout Arizona, all three of our teachers find themselves in a similar situation. Lanna, Anna, and Erica are all mothers to children under the age of five and all finding it difficult to support themselves with the salary they make teaching our children. They work long hours and give their whole hearts to our children each day. They are committed to making every day special. I would like to show them our appreciation this Holiday Season by helping them do the same for their own children on Christmas morning.

If we want our teachers to stay, we have to ensure that they can support their families. Please join in donating to Lanna, Anna, and Erica to show them how important they are in the lives of our children.

In order to reach the teachers before Christmas, this fundraiser must move quickly! Please share with as many Preschool parents as you can, as quickly as possible. I know the holidays are an expensive time of year for all of us. Any dollar amount you can afford to contribute will be greatly appreciated. The last day of school is December 20th and we plan to present the teachers with our gift that day. Though this fundraiser is a surprise, I encourage you to leave a note for the teachers when you donate (they can read them at a later date), or give them a handwritten note sharing your love and appreciation.

My name is Sally DuBois. I have two daughters, one in kindergarten this year who attended Leman Academy Preschool for two years, and one in the Imagineers classroom. As a former elementary school teacher, I know the importance of supporting those who educate our children. I believe they do extremely important work and are under-valued and under-appreciated. Due to time constraints and to keep this a surprise, your funds will be deposited into an existing account in my name. From that account, we will distribute one-third of the funds to each teacher.
