Stand with Our Sister Against Unjust Treatment

On 1/14/26, our fellow sister had a routine new hire meeting, where they kept trying to break the ice and have a conversation. Having suffered a brain injury, it can be mentally overloading to have these conversations, especially when the person seems uninterested. That week was especially stressful, being the anniversary of losing her father and a call before this meeting. So, attempting to make jokes and referring to the other rep with a joke, not realizing its impact, led to our sister being placed on leave without pay pending an investigation.

On 01/19/26, our sister was taken into the office and told that an ethics point was made about her language in a meeting, which triggered an investigation. The company found our sister was "working off the clock" by sending one email while she was about to be out for a whole week (whereas the company has had no issues calling to ask questions on her day off or by sending text messages to ask questions while off). The company now wants to demote our sister and transfer her for "working off the clock." She and the union are fighting this decision, but they're not sure how long this will last and how long she will be out. Fighting this wrongful discipline has our sister on unpaid leave until it is resolved, and they're losing their take-home pay of $500 weekly.
