Family, friends, and community members join to support Officer Sean Rios as he bravely battles Ewing’s Sarcoma.
Officer Sean Rios has dedicated his life to serving others with courage, compassion, and integrity. In 2021, he was honored as Rookie of the Year, a recognition that speaks volumes about his commitment and his heart for others.
Sean has continued to give back, volunteering for numerous community projects, charity events, and representing his department in local runs and fundraisers – including Walk Like MADD (Mothers Against Drunk Driving). In 2023, he proudly participated in a Breast Cancer Awareness 5K and Pink Vehicle Photo Shoot to support early detection and awareness.
And, at only 30 years old, Sean is now facing one of the greatest challenges of his life – a battle against Ewing’s Sarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone and soft-tissue cancer. In just one month, doctors discovered that the mass had grown from 10 cm to 10.5 cm and had metastasized to his pelvic area and lung. His treatment plan involves intensive rounds of chemotherapy and radiation that will demand incredible strength and endurance.
Those who know Sean describe him as kind, selfless, and always ready to help anyone in need. Fortunately, he’s surrounded by loving friends, family, and colleagues who are walking this road with him. He lives with his mother, Denysse Vargas, who is working tirelessly to care for him, and his girlfriend, Gina, who travels back and forth from North Carolina to support him through treatment whenever possible – a true reflection of her love and dedication.
This GoFundMe has been created by Sean’s community to help relieve some of the financial burden of his ongoing treatment – including medical care, travel, and recovery expenses and supplies.
All funds raised will go directly to Sean to support his care and healing process.
Your prayers, messages, and generosity will remind him that he’s not fighting this battle alone – his community stands strong beside him, just as he has always stood for us.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Sean’s Family, Friends, and Supporters
