My name is Ihab Zeedia, and I’m writing to share the heartbreaking story of a young woman in Gaza who urgently needs our help — Neveen. She is a bright, ambitious, and incredibly resilient 22-year-old from northern Gaza.

Neveen and her family of seven have endured unimaginable suffering during the ongoing war in Gaza, which has now lasted over 20 months, with no clear end in sight. They have been displaced countless times, forced to live in tents and overcrowded schools under horrific conditions: no clean water, the spread of disease, severe malnutrition, and the constant threat of bombings.

A Glimmer of Hope — Then More Devastation

During a brief truce, Neveen and her family walked 15 kilometers back to their home — even her 4-year-old sister made the journey on foot, filled with joy and hope. But that joy was short-lived. Their home had been badly damaged. Just two months later, the war resumed, and they were displaced once again.

One photo shows her sweet little sister in the tents — a child whose early years have been stolen by war and displacement.

They celebrated Eid al-Fitr together when they briefly returned home. A photo captures her younger brother and sister during that short moment of peace. But with Eid al-Adha approaching, they won’t have the chance to celebrate in their home again. The war has resumed, and they are once more displaced — now living in famine-like conditions, with crossings closed, food unaffordable, and no safe shelter.

Neveen’s Dreams Are at Risk

Another photo shows Neveen standing in front of what used to be her university — the place where she once dreamed of completing her degree in computer engineering. That dream, like much of her city, now lies in rubble.

Neveen was an honors student in high school. She had dreamed of becoming a doctor, but financial hardship led her to pursue computer engineering instead — a more realistic goal. Now, even that hope is slipping away because of the war.
