In the recent protests in Nepal, many lives were lost, and countless people were injured which is very heartbreaking to see. We honor those who have suffered and their families, and our thoughts are with everyone affected by this tragedy. Families of the injured and deceased are receiving aid through national and international relief efforts, which is heartening to see, and we are thankful that support is reaching them. At the same time, many small businesses were destroyed overnight, leaving hardworking families without a source of income, a group often overlooked in times of crisis.

Among those affected was a local training and employment hub that provided work and skill-building opportunities for over 20 staff members and students, 90% of them being women who supported their households through this livelihood. Its destruction has directly impacted dozens of families, putting them in a vulnerable situation with no immediate alternative.

Our fundraiser is focused on helping these 20+ staff and students regain stability, and if we raise more than our initial goal, we will extend support to other small businesses and families equally affected but not covered by mainstream media, especially outside the capital city, ensuring aid reaches those who might otherwise be overlooked.

To stand in solidarity, the Nepalese Student Associations of UMBC and Towson University are coming together to support those directly impacted. 100% of the funds raised will go toward helping displaced workers and trainees rebuild their lives, restore their opportunities, and provide relief during this difficult time.

We are committed to full transparency. All funds will be directly transferred to the verified bank account of the affected workplace ensuring they reach the staff and students who lost their livelihoods. Regular updates on funds raised and distributed will be shared through the official social media pages of UMBC NSA and Towson NSA, as this fundraiser is being supported collectively by both associations.

Your contribution, no matter how big or small, will directly touch the lives of families who have lost their only source of income. Together, we can show that our community stands strong, even in the face of devastation.
