Nepal is facing devastating flooding that has taken lives, displaced families, destroyed homes and farmland, and left many communities in urgent need of assistance.

For those who are comfortable donating through the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund, I strongly encourage you to do so. It is Nepal’s official relief channel.

At the same time, many friends and members of my community have reached out to me personally. Some do not feel comfortable donating through large institutions, while others have asked whether there is a more direct way to support affected families. I am creating this campaign in response to those requests.

Funds raised through this campaign will support urgent and practical needs, along with rebuilding for families in Nuwakot and Rasuwa.

I will work through trusted contacts on the ground to identify families and communities facing urgent needs, with priority given to people who may have limited access to larger institutional relief efforts.

Transparency is important to me. Funds received after GoFundMe’s transaction fees will be transferred as directly as possible to affected families.

I was born in Nepal, and my mother’s maternal village is in Nuwakot, one of the areas affected by the flooding. This disaster is deeply personal, but its scale reaches far beyond any one family or village. Communities across Nepal are grieving while also confronting the enormous work of rebuilding.

Nepal has contributed very little to global carbon emissions, yet it remains highly vulnerable to the consequences of a changing climate. These floods are not simply a temporary emergency. For many families, the loss of a home, field, livestock or livelihood will be felt for years.

This fundraiser is not intended to replace the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund or the work of established relief organizations. It offers an additional, community-based route for those who have specifically asked for a more direct way to help.
