Myia Needs Us: Facing Cancer Head-On

Hey hey I'm Myia, single mom of 2. I have recently been diagnosed with Stage 2 breast cancer. Long story short, I found a lump by doing self breast exams in the shower. I went to my primary doctor who sent me for a mammogram and ultrasound, irregular shaped mass. They referred me for biopsy, radiologist says poorly differentiated malignant carcinoma, fancy way to say cancer. I meet with my surgical team and oncology team, Stage 2 triple negative cancer which is a more aggressive kind, however, I caught it early. The recommended treatment is chemo first to aggressively attack back, then surgery, then radiation, then cancer free! With chemo starting the beginning of my journey to fight against the cancer, I'm out of work for a few days each week. Before this unfortunate news, I worked every day as a substitute teacher by day and licensed nail tech by nights and weekends. Between treatment and recovery days, I will miss a few valuable working days every week. Those missed days significantly affect my income. My household expenses are purely my responsibility as I am the sole provider of my family. I need help to cover my household expenses for the next 6 months of chemotherapy. I have a serious battle to win for the next year. Adding the stress of financial insecurity to an already very difficult situation can be counterproductive. I want to kick cancer's ass, honestly. The key is to maintain a healthy positive mindset, lean on my support system, trust in my medical team and pray hard. I"m asking for help.
