For nearly four decades, Mr. Mahurney Augier has been a beacon of hope, discipline, and cultural pride in St. Lucia. A devoted educator of 39 years—30 of which were spent as an impassioned music teacher—Mr. Augier didn’t just teach; he transformed lives.

With unwavering dedication, he lit a spark in the hearts of thousands of students, introducing them to the joy and rhythm of music, the values of community service, and the richness of our cultural identity. From steel pan to wind ensembles, folk drumming to choral singing, Mr. Augier was the heartbeat of countless school and community groups. He wasn’t just a teacher—he was a visionary, a builder of dreams, and a guardian of our cultural soul.

Beyond the classroom, Mr. Augier served with distinction as a Scout Leader and Cadet Officer. He was also a pillar of the calypso world, organizing Junior Calypso competitions across the island and serving as a respected judge in Carnival, Soca, and Calypso events for decades. His life has been one of service, selflessness, and deep love for the arts and our people.

But in 2018, just after retiring from teaching, Mr. Augier’s journey took a difficult turn. He was rushed to Martinique, where he underwent an emergency triple heart bypass surgery. In 2022, he faced another cardiac scare, resulting in the placement of two stents. He now faces yet another heart-related procedure in the coming weeks.

Over the years, he has battled recurring heart failure and endured the physical, emotional, and financial strain that comes with it. The cost of ongoing medical treatment, specialist care, and a complex regimen of medications has placed a tremendous financial burden on his family, driving them into significant debt.

Today, this proud man—who has poured his heart into so many—needs our help.
