Stand with Monica in Her Cancer Journey
Donation protected
Hi everyone my name is Aimee. My mom has been in the hospital with an infection, fevers, and headaches for the last week, but she is doing a bit better and may hopefully get to go home soon. I want to start by thanking everyone for their prayers and words of support. My mom, Monica Escalante, was diagnosed with breast cancer about 11 months ago in January 2024. She has two types of breast cancer: the first is HER2, and the second is a more aggressive one called triple negative. By the time she found a lump and received a biopsy, she was already at stage 3. The cancer has spread to certain areas of her bone, sternum, spine, and neck. She is now at stage 4 metastatic breast cancer. The triple negative is very aggressive and taking a toll on her body. She has been doing chemo treatments in Phoenix, AZ, supplements at home, and infusions in Mexico. Her husband, Morales Escalante, has been assisting her with her travel to treatments and working full-time. It was difficult to balance both, and he decided he will be retiring this month to be able to assist her better. My mom has been an employee of Yuma County for 9 years. Due to her cancer treatments, she is in the process of applying for long-term disability. This has put a strain on their financial situation as well as medical bills that are not fully covered by insurance.
Our goal is to raise $20,000 to help cover Monica’s essential living expenses, including mortgage, utilities, groceries, and the mounting medical bills that come with cancer care. Our goal is to relieve some of the financial strain so that she can focus her energy on healing and regaining her health.
Please consider donating, sharing this campaign, or sending words of encouragement to show Monica she’s not alone in this fight. Your support means the world. Thank you.
