We all hear the stories, but never expect it to happen to people close to our hearts. On November 14, a gorgeous little girl who shines so bright and spreads her unique charm to everyone lucky enough to know her, faced the ultimate challenge. Mira’s family acted quickly advocating for answers when it became clear her little body was being affected by something profound. Her team of doctors at Children’s National Hospital detected a brain tumor causing significant symptoms due to hydrocephalus and partial CSF blockage. While relieved to understand the cause of her headaches, double vision, and unstable mobility - her family has begun to brace themselves for their baby’s unavoidable nightmare of a fight ahead. While further testing, surgery, and biopsies are needed to determine the extent of her condition and treatment plan - it is certain Mira and her family are facing severe emotional, physical and financial difficulties.

It is impossible to know this family without feeling immense love and affection for them. I humbly ask those of you who stand beside the family to consider contributing anything you can spare to help show Nicki and Phil they are supported as they endure the challenges this nightmare brings. The medical bills will be significant, and I hope their heavy hearts will feel lighter with the reassurance that they are not alone in this fight for Mira’s care and future.
