Stand with Mike: Our Beloved Mentor

Hello friends, family, and the extended Alpha Tau Omega (Gamma Upsilon) community,

We are reaching out on behalf of someone who has been the heart and soul of our fraternity — Mike Kelly, our cherished House Dad here at the Alpha Tau Omega chapter at Iowa State University.

Recently, Mike was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer, a devastating turn that has left us heartbroken but determined to support him the way he’s always supported us.

Mike has been more than just a house manager — he’s been a father figure, a steady presence, and a guiding light in our daily lives. Whether helping us through tough times, keeping the house running, or simply being there to talk, Mike has shaped the culture of Gamma Upsilon with compassion, strength, and heart.

While Mike does receive support through Veteran Affairs and Medicare, there are still many out-of-pocket costs, travel expenses, and basic living needs that fall outside that coverage. Any donation — large or small — will go directly to supporting Mike through these incredibly tough times.

Our goal is to raise $50,000 to help cover:

Non-covered medical treatment and prescriptions

Travel costs for treatment

Any unexpected costs that come with this battle

Mike has given so much to our brotherhood — he’s always been there for us. Now, we want to be there for him.
