Michelle is a survivor of domestic violence and a devoted mother who has worked tirelessly to build a safe and stable life for herself and her baby girl.
After experiencing abuse from her child’s father, Michelle made the courageous decision to leave Florida with her infant and relocate to California, where she could be close to family and rebuild her life in a supportive and safe environment. As a single mother, she has worked incredibly hard to create a better future. Through determination and resilience, Michelle earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and has dedicated herself to caring for others while raising her daughter with love and stability.
Sadly, because of the legal battle she has been forced to fight, Michelle has not yet been able to begin working as a nurse. In order to practice, she must pass her licensing exam, which requires significant time to study and prepare. But her priority has been protecting her baby and navigating the complicated legal challenges she faces. Instead of focusing on launching the nursing career she worked so hard for, Michelle has had to spend her time doing whatever work she can find while fighting to keep her child safe.
Unfortunately, Michelle’s journey to safety has not been easy.
Due to jurisdictional laws and ongoing legal proceedings in Florida, the court has required that her baby daughter be sent back to Florida to spend extended periods of time with her father.
Now Michelle is facing the fight of her life: protecting her daughter and ensuring her safety.
Because the case involves multiple states, Michelle urgently needs legal representation both in Florida and in California. The legal system is complex, and without experienced attorneys in both jurisdictions, it is incredibly difficult for her to advocate for her child and navigate the process.
Michelle is not asking for much—only the chance to keep her baby safe!
