Stand With Michael Mallory in His Cancer Fight

Michael Mallory has lived a life defined by resilience, service, and an unwavering commitment to helping others.

Michael served as a firefighter with Dry Creek Rancheria’s Fire Department, a role he took immense pride in. Protecting his community was never “just a job” for Michael; it was a calling.

Over the years, Michael fought on the front lines of some of California’s most devastating wildfires, including the 2015 Valley Fire in Lake County, the 2017 Tubbs Fire in Sonoma County, and the Camp Fire in Paradise. His bravery and leadership during the Tubbs Fire earned him a promotion to Lieutenant.

Just three months before he and his wife were married, their lives changed forever. In 2022, Michael was diagnosed with Stage 4 lung cancer, which doctors believe may be connected to years of exposure to smoke and toxins while fighting wildfires.

In 2024, the cancer spread to Michael’s brain, requiring two emergency brain surgeries within six months.

Then, on March 29, 2026, Michael suffered two major seizures caused by necrosis in the brain. Necrosis occurs when tissue becomes damaged or dies, often as a side effect of radiation. Michael was flown by helicopter to a trauma center where he underwent his third emergency brain surgery.

Throughout this journey, Michael has endured multiple rounds of chemotherapy and radiation, and is now receiving a clinical trial from the Mayo Clinic. Despite everything his body has gone through, Michael continues to face each day with strength, gratitude, and an incredible spirit.

Michael has spent his life showing up for others, protecting communities from wildfire and caring deeply for the people around him. Now, we are hoping to give something back to him.

This GoFundMe is being created to help give Michael an experience of a lifetime; something meaningful that brings joy, peace, and fulfillment to a man who has given so much of himself to others. The funds will also help provide financial relief so he and his wife can make needed repairs to their home while continuing to navigate Michael’s ongoing medical care and recovery.

Michael’s story is one of service, perseverance, and heart. If you feel moved to support him, please know that every contribution, no matter the size, means more to him and his wife than words can express.

Thank you for helping us remind Michael how deeply his life, his story, and his service truly matter.
