Support Michael's Fight for Justice
Michael has always been a driven individual. After completing high school, he pursued business management courses focusing on entrepreneurship. To further his dreams, he invested in himself by purchasing mentorships in credit repair and real estate from respected figures like dir_ceo and amazonresellbywillchangelives. While working at MGM Casino, Michael consistently showed up for his family, friends, and community—supporting them mentally, physically, and financially. He has always been passionate about giving back, whether by helping the less fortunate or championing Black-owned businesses in his area, such as Museum, Vegan Glizzy DC, and Soultarian.
Unfortunately, Michael now needs our support. All funds raised will cover his legal expenses, including lawyer fees, bonds, and necessary resources like books. Additionally, your contributions will help support others affected by police brutality.
The Incident
In May, Michael traveled to Atlanta, GA, to attend a convention focused on entrepreneurship in real estate, life insurance, and credit reports. While there, he also took the opportunity to spend time with family and friends. However, on Thursday, May 30th, Michael's life drastically turned on his way home.
As he departed from a rest stop on I-85 in Mecklenburg County, Virginia, Michael was profiled by a Virginia state trooper who followed him for five minutes before initiating a stop. The trooper claimed Michael was following a tractor-trailer too closely and said he would be issued a ticket. Without requesting his license or registration, the trooper instructed Michael to exit his vehicle and enter the patrol car, despite the dangers posed by traffic on the interstate.
Once in the patrol car, Michael complied by providing his name and address. However, the situation escalated when the trooper exited the vehicle, opened the passenger door, and informed Michael that he was being detained without providing a clear reason.
Fearing for his safety, Michael made the split-second decision to run back to his car and drive away, seeking help from local civilians. This decision led to a crash. Afterward, Michael exited his vehicle and called out for help, but instead of receiving assistance, the trooper maced him, pointed a service weapon at him, and placed him under arrest.
Despite Michael’s repeated requests for medical attention and complaints about the tightness of his handcuffs, the trooper ignored him. Paramedics arrived and treated his eyes, but when Michael was placed on a stretcher, the trooper forcibly removed him and put him back in the patrol car.
Upon arrival at Meherrin River Regional Jail, the situation worsened. The trooper stopped the vehicle and assaulted Michael, leaving him with a loss of feeling in both his arms and hands.
Why We Need Your Help
Michael's case is a stark reminder of the systemic issues many face today. We are raising funds to ensure he receives the legal defense he deserves and to support those impacted by similar instances of police brutality.
Your support will help Michael fight for justice and hold those accountable who abuse their power. Every contribution, no matter how small, brings us one step closer to justice.
Thank you for standing with Michael in this critical time.
