The purpose of this fundraiser is to help my sister MerriAnn Silva, a single mother of four children. MerriAnn is being sued for custody by her ex husband, even though she was awarded custody after a five year long divorce process. Right now MerriAnn receives about one thousand dollars a month in child support, previously she was receiving only $5 which was openly bragged about by her ex. Before the divorce she and her children were forced from their home and had all of their belongings put on the side of the road. Every person who took her and the children in was stalked and harassed by her ex. MerriAnn has dealt with harassment and threats from her ex husband all of these years, as he has spread lies about her alienating her children from him to garner sympathy. Every time he takes her back to court she is forced to hire a lawyer, and now she will have to pay for a lawyer for the children as well. Her husband has openly bragged about piling legal fees on her in an attempt to get revenge for not getting his way. It is completely unfair that she should have to give up every spare cent she has to hire a lawyer for his frivolous law suits. Right now she only works part time and is going back to school so she can make enough to support her kids. I am starting with a goal of ten thousand. However I am hoping we can raise enough to not only pay what she owes to lawyers now, but to take her ex husband back to court and counter sue so she can receive adequate child support.
