Help Melaine Fight Brain Cancer
My name is Melaine Finefield, and earlier this year, my world changed forever when I was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain cancer. I underwent a craniotomy to remove the tumor, and I am now receiving radiation and chemotherapy at the University of Kansas Cancer Center.
As a nurse with over 20 years of experience in long-term care, I’ve always been the one caring for others. Now, I find myself needing to lean on my community for support.
The costs of fighting brain cancer are overwhelming—travel for treatments, medications, special diets, and uncovered medical expenses all add up quickly. While insurance covers part of the care, there are many expenses that fall directly on my family.
Unfortunately, I am now out of work due to my left-sided hemi paralysis and chemo and radiation. I’ve also been informed that this is terminal and I have less than a couple of years. I would love to spend that time making memories with my family, but it will be more difficult without employment.
Unfortunately, we also lost a big chunk of our roof and fence during the last storm while I was in the hospital, and insurance will not cover it. So, we desperately need help with things, as well as making my master bathroom handicapped accessible. I have reached out to every non-profit, and no one is able to help due to funding.
Your support will help me focus on healing instead of financial stress. Funds raised will go toward:
• Travel and lodging for treatment
• Medical bills not covered by insurance
• Nutritional and supportive therapies to keep me strong
• Daily living expenses while I am unable to work in my full capacity
Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference. If you can’t give, please consider sharing this page with others who may be able to help.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for walking alongside me in this fight. Your prayers, kindness, and generosity give me strength.
With gratitude,
Melaine Finefield and Family
