Stand with Mariah Mora: Protect Gaby
Donation protected
hello! my name is Mariah Mora, my former roommate sued me in small claims court for ownership of a cat that was never his. To my horror the judge (who was recently demoted from trying civil cases and moved to small claims court) sided with my ex roommate. And because of this judgement I owe my ex roommate $1,000.
Heres the story:
A long time ago in a galaxy far far away (Koreatown) my friend found 3 abandoned kittens. She took them in as fosters while she began searching for furever homes, she told me about the kittens on July 1, 2023, I immediately stated I would take one kitten(Rockey) , and soon after decided to adopt a second kitten (Gaby).
All of this happened before I moved in with my ex roommate. These were my kittens from day one and I never entered into any form of agreement verbal or otherwise to give Gaby to my ex roommate in any way shape or form. My ex roommate asked if he could have Gaby and I said no. I told him if he demonstrated a pattern of responsibility, that I would gladly help him find a kitten of his own. He never showed that responsibility and instead was content with the existing amount of cats in the house.
attached to this gofundme are screenshots proving that Gaby is my cat. My ex roommate has no proof of any kind that states otherwise.
so why did the judge side with my ex roommate? Either he didn’t fully review the evidence I submitted that can be found attached here, or he believed my ex roommate’s one witness (who happened to be his enabling mother) who lied on my ex roommate’s behalf, and said, without supporting evidence, that we were best friends and I gave him my cat. I don’t blame his mother for lying, she probably just believes what my ex roommate told her, but that doesn’t make it any less false. From my understanding of the law this is pure hearsay, and I don’t understand why any unsupported statement would be believed.
Please help me cover the costs of this judgement while I fight to get the judge in question decommissioned permanently.
if you have any questions or would like me to explain further, drop me a message.
Gaby has my whole heart and I would pay any amount to keep her with me.
thank you for your time
