Makala is a resilient and courageous mother who has always put others first. Prior to this devastating news of Keandre being diagnosed with Hodgkin lymphoma cancer, Makala a single-income provider, now faces unimaginable challenges as she supports Keandre’s recovery.

This journey started as Keandre went in for a sports physical and from there the nightmare began. Keandre went through X-rays, CT scans, and finally a biopsy. During this time, Keandre didn’t allow the unknown to stop him from playing sports. After the biopsy revealed Keandre had cancer, he went through surgery for a port placement. Keandre then underwent a PET scan to determine his stage and has had 4 chemotherapy treatments.

As Makala does work, her FMLA does not financially cover her time away from work. Keandre has appointments 3-4 days out of the week, and his medical insurance has not covered all of the testing or co-payments. This has put Makala in a financial burden. Any donation amount is appreciated and considered a blessing in this hard emotional time for her and her family.
