Stand with Lyra in Her Health Battle
Donation protected
Hi there, my name is Lexie, and I’m raising funds for my bestfriend, Lyra. Lyra has been in the hospital since June 11th. She initially went in for what we assumed was allergies and body aches. When she got a CT, we found out she had a brain bleed and an aneurysm in her brain. She had a stroke when she was 17 and that’s when she got diagnosed with APS, a blood clotting disease. Because of her past history along with her current condition, the doctors at the ER wanted to transfer her immediately to the ICU. She was transferred to a hospital with a Neurosurgeon, as the one we were at did not have one. The next few days went by, and she stayed at Javon Bea for observation, as well as a procedure to get imaging on her brain. Around day 7 in the hospital, we were told her kidneys started having problems, but they were unsure of the cause. Again, she had to stay to be monitored and they were hoping her kidney function would improve. Unfortunately, it did not. Along with this, her blood oxygen levels were not high enough so she was put on oxygen. With these symptoms, as well as her APS, the doctors at Javon Bea did not feel comfortable doing a kidney biopsy on her, as they felt it was too risky for them to perform. So on day 10 of being in the hospital (June 21) Lyra was transferred again, this time to a hospital deep in Chicago. She is still there today. Over these last few days at the new hospital, Lyra’s condition worsened and she had to be put on higher concentrated oxygen, and her kidney function did not improve. She had also developed some fluid in her lungs which caused acute pneumonia. Yesterday she was finally moved out of ICU because her oxygen level improved, but she’s still having problems. Her kidney function has improved slightly, but now the doctors seem to have found many small blood clots in her brain that were not there the day she was admitted (June 11). As of now, we still do not have answers as to what’s wrong with her or causing any of this. She has had tremendous support from her family and friends, however with this extensive stay, she has not been able to work. With this, any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated to help her pay her hospital bills. If donation is not possible for you, we still greatly appreciate love, support, prayers, well wishes, good thoughts, anything. Lyra is a young adult just trying to start her life, and as her bestfriend I just want what’s best for her. Thank you.
