Stand with Leigh James in Her Healing Journey
Donation protected
On May 30th, 2024, Leigh James' life changed dramatically and without warning. She suffered a major fall, which resulted in multiple fractures of her pelvis, broken ribs, torn glute muscles, and a severely bruised bladder. After two and a half weeks of treatment in both the hospital and an intensive rehab facility, Leigh had to return home because of insurance constraints. The average hospital stay for someone with her particular injuries is 25-35 days. Her doctors have recommended physical therapy for at least two months.
The trauma to her body has made both the Fibromyalgia and severe asthma with which she was already diagnosed even more painful and pronounced. She can't walk without the aid of a walker, and each step is slow, exhausting, and excruciating.
Leigh is independent, incredibly strong, and fiercely determined. She would much rather be on the giving end of life than the receiving end. But, like the rest of us, she is only human. And all of us humans find ourselves in need of help sometimes.
Leigh's support system includes her loving sister, who is currently in her own battle with breast cancer, and her friends, who do what they can, but also realize it simply isn't enough right now.
Leigh needs help with her life expenses: rent, groceries, utility bills, etc. until she is able to be the independent force of nature we know her to be. It's impossible to heal well with bills hanging over your head.
Leigh loves children. She loves animals. She took care of her mother through her battle with ALS. She loves to cook. She loves to take care of people. As her friend, and someone who sees the depth of pain she is suffering, I want her to see, not only do people care, but they want to help. Thank you!
